How to use this site
Everything here is built to be learned in order, from the ground up. This page shows you how it all fits together so you know where you are and what comes next.
Subjects, chapters, and lessons
A subject is a whole course, like Pre-Algebra or Algebra I. Each subject is split into chapters, and each chapter is a group of lessons on one theme. Start at a subject, pick a chapter, and work through its lessons in order.
Chapter Overview
Every chapter opens with an overview. It introduces what the chapter is about and previews each lesson, so you can see where you are headed before you begin. It links to the chapter's lessons and, once they are ready, its Chapter Review and Chapter Test.
Lessons
A lesson builds each idea from first principles: it starts with the problem the idea solves, then shows where the rule comes from instead of just handing it to you. Along the way you get worked examples and a few quick checks for understanding so you can test yourself as you read.
Practice
Practice comes in two kinds: MCQ (multiple-choice questions) and FRQ (free-response questions).
The MCQs are split into sets that gradually get harder:
- Three core sets: Foundational, Intermediate, and Challenge.
- Two optional Additional Practice sets, for extra reps once you have the core sets down.
Where a lesson has FRQs, they give you space to write out fuller solutions in your own words. Every question, MCQ or FRQ, comes with a full worked solution you can reveal whenever you like. There is no timer and no score to chase.
Chapter Review
The Chapter Review is a quick refresher of the chapter's key ideas, gathered in one place. Use it to bring everything back to mind before you take the Chapter Test.
Chapter Test
The Chapter Test pulls questions from across the whole chapter, so you can check that all the pieces fit together, not just one lesson at a time.
Advanced lessons
Some lessons are marked Advanced. They go beyond the core course, so they are optional: you can skip an Advanced lesson, or explore it if you are curious.
Printing
If you would rather work on paper, you can print the practice sets, free-response sets, chapter reviews, and chapter tests. Each of those pages has a print button.
In the print dialog you can also choose to save as a PDF (or print to PDF) instead of printing on paper, so you can keep a copy on your device.
Your progress
You do not need an account. The answers you enter, your progress, and your theme choice are saved right in your own browser, on this device. The privacy page says exactly what is stored and what a page view sends.
